The Parkgate Pony Sanctuary was established in 1984 and became are registered charity in 1998, it is funded entirely by public donations.

The Sanctuary offers a safe haven for the ageing, infirm, mistreated and neglected horses and ponies in the Wirral and the Cheshire area. The area has a huge equine population and unfortunately there are still a lot of horses and ponies who, through illness and neglect or ignorance of humans need a safe, knowledgeable, loving environment in which to live out the rest of their lives.
